I'm a little eclectic. I'm allowed--at my age. Love Elvis, especially Kentucky Rain. Love Maya Angelou--I saw her speak at the University of Cincinati many hears ago . . .
I echo Emily Dickinson in my poetry some times.
I don't see Phibby Venable in your friends list . . . you should check her out. :) I'll try to think who else you need to know. Looking forward to spending more time browsing through your postings.
I'm obesssing about the opening line exploding...I can see bits of letters zinging like shrapnel...or maybe it explodes into new poems...and if one line can explode what about the others! Is reading dangerous? And does the line explode in or out of the mind? Or in the eyes? And how the hell did it explode!?! Who pulled the pin?
I wanted to make very, very, very sure that I in no way offended; there are precious few actual writers around here, and I didn't want to be the dumbass who drove one away.
essentially, yes. i study neuroscience, and so a lot of my life is focused on rational, scientific explanations for the phenomena of existence. i love this, but one of the biggest roadblocks in neuroscience is an explanation of consciousness. how is it exactly that from the non-sentient movement of atoms we get such incredible feelings, self-awareness, etc. that's what i was going after with this poem. thanks for the review!
