About Me

Born and raised in Georgia. Studied literature here and abroad and now learning that my literature degree was pretty much useless. So, I'm trying to get serious about my writing again so I can make some fast cash writing books.

Quotes to write by:
"The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne."
Chaucer
"Good writers write what they know. Great writers write what they don't know."
Dr. Evans

this is shel. shel hates it when bryan is not around. shel hates that bryan has to go an actual workplace everyday and earn actual money (to pay all debts, public and private) and has very little time left to write new poems. shel also hates that she has not a lot of money but lots of time and still can't manage to get a f*****g thing done. did i scare the hell out of you w/that last message? oh, yeah, well...it's kinda true. but i forced myself (oh, it was a struggle) to write something that had absolutely nothing to do with it. the emo-drivel is forthcoming, though, i'm sure. anyhoo, just felt like commenting over here to be a pain in the a*s :)...and i've actually been doing a few reviews for the first time in weeks. i'm gonna spam you 2 from a new writer here...he's pretty funny, but damn, i can't remember his name right now. oh, well...i think one of the titles is 'it will never happen'.

books, ha, ha...i have over 600 books on shelves upstairs, along with stacks of art books, plus another 10-12 cases (books i want to get rid of) in the basement...quite a few reference and writerly-like titles in my office. yes, thousands of dollars spent...i wish i could sell some of it. i do have a few autographed books, but even so, i doubt i'd get much for any of them. which reminds me...i need to look for my framed letter from daphne dumaurier. (i wrote her a gushy, you're-my-idol letter when i was very young.) now, that's one thing i'd never sell.
when do you start the new job? did i already ask? my brain is as empty as my office today.

i don't know whether to congratulate you or shake my head and tell you you're crazy. 6-7 nights? + the flea market? i haven't been up to doing reviews for a couple of days & the writing is (still) going nowhere. i just keep flipping through my binder, looking for something to revise, finding myself too lazy or uninspired to do anything with any of it.
my office is clean. too clean. empty. i tossed everything having to do with my old job. tell me, why on earth would i still be hanging on to old reviews, an hr manual, a store sign?! this basement-- it's like going on an archaeological dig down here. and it's a big basement. :P
any progress with that 'oppressively big' piece for the contest?
