Old Enemy? Or New Friend?

What happens when Anika and Makoto both know the same person?

"What the hell?" Anika asked. She didn't believe that the man that always tried to ask her out when they went to high school together would be in a baby store. Anika didn't want to look at this guy let alone talk to him. She ducked down behind a crib and dragged Makoto with her.

"Whats going on, babe?" He asked as the three and a half month pregnant girl. She quickly shushed him and looked out around the baby bed. She was surprised when she didn't see him standing out there. Maybe he didn't notice her and he went home without even thinking about her.

"Darling, I think about you all the time." Anika's back arched as she heard the man's voice.

"Kan? What are you doing here?" Makoto asked. Anika looked shocked. 

"Makoto? For real? You're the one that got Anika knocked up?" Anika glared at the word choice of his question. 

"I'm pregnant, Kan. I am not knocked up. I thought high school was over several years ago." Anika sighed. "Wait, you two know each other?" 

"Makoto and I work together in the same mechanic shop." Kan explained. Anika thought that this guy was going to become the ladies man of the celebrity world. Kan was the one who thought he was hot s**t like most of the other jocks in school. He was different from the other guys cause, frankly, he was hot s**t.

Kan came from a rich family. He had the right clothes and the right cars (yes multiple cars). He was different from any of the other guys who were 'cool' is that he didn't want to get in every girl's pants. This guy was a one woman guy. Very rare for rich kids that went to their school, at least.

The bad thing was, he only had eyes for Anika. Anika wasn't looking for anyone at that time. She was having some problems at home all throughout high school and she didn't need anymore stress of another half being there.

Kan never got the hint, no matter how many times she shot down his question. Hell, she thought this boy was crazy, too. She wasn't the popular chick of the school. She didn't even consider herself being that pretty back in high school. She only did plays and a bit of show choir.

"Thats surprising." 

"What was that?" Kan asked Anika. She shook her head.

"Never mind, anyway Makoto and I need to get to shopping then." Anika said fighting the urge to just yell in this guy's face to leave them alone. Makoto looked at his fiancée and his friend from work. He was quite confused as to what was going down between those two.

"Why don't you two talk for a while?" Makoto asked. Kan's face lit up. Anika sent the deadliest glare she could come up with at the time at Makoto. Anika sighed. She might as well give Kan a chance. They haven't seen each other for a few years.

~Later: Out At Lunch~

"So you two are pretty well set." Kan said taking a sip of his diet Coke. Anika nodded. The three decided to go to a fast food restaurant. The place wasn't that busy or noisy, so it gave them a good environment to talk. The group decided to sit in a booth next to the window. Kan sat on one side of the table and Anika and Makoto sat on the other.

"Yeah, I just sold my house for around twenty-three grand. So we have money for the baby coming along." Anika said taking a bite out of her third hamburger. 

"Took me forever to get her to move in with me." Makoto added while resting his hand on her knee. She smiled over at him. 

"Oh you two are so adorable!" Anika couldn't believe that just came out of Kan's mouth. He had always been the biggest flirt to her since forever. Now he was happy for her to be getting with another guy? This was completely unexpected. Makoto smiled over at his friend. "Hey, I was wondering if you guys have been thinking about a certain something."

"What do you mean?" Anika asked, bouncing back from her trance. 

"Who the God Parent of the baby will be?" He said with a quizzing tone. Before Makoto could answer that, Kan kept on talking. "Cause I was thinking, if you guys don't have anyone in mind..." He let his words and thoughts trail off. Makoto looked at Anika.

"We actually never really talked about this subject before." Anika said looking back at Makoto. She smiled at him and gave him a tap on the hand. Makoto smiled back and looked back over at Kan.

"We decided that if, Heaven Forbid, that something happens to us, you could be the God Father of our child." Kan's eyes went wide. He couldn't believe that they actually said yes to his wish.

"Actually Kan, we are going to go to the doctors soon to check out the gender. If you want to, you can come along." Anika invited. She thought it was going to be a bad day once she saw the man that practically used to stalk her, but today was actually a good day...even though Kan was completely embarrassing them by standing on the table yelling, "I am having a kid!" Makoto laughed instead of being mad like most people. Both Makoto and Anika started to laugh.
