Nightmares

This is my poem to my brother.

I don't want to go to sleep.

I don't want to be scared.

I don't want to cry at night.

I don't want to be alone.

I don't want to close my eyes.

I don't want those thoughts in my mind.

I dont want to wake up screaming.

I don't want to be alone.

I don't want to see the things I see.

I don't want to know the things I know.

I don't want to go through it all with the ending in my mind.

I dont want to be alone.

I curl up in a ball and wish I didn't know.

I lay there weeping for what I cant seem to stop.

I hope that my tears keep me awake.

I don't want to be alone.

Someone says my name softly.

I look up and see my brother.

He already knows what is happening.

I start to feel not so alone.

He helps me up and talks me down.

He tells me nothing like that will happen.

Nothing will happen like that when he is around.

He tells me that I am not alone.

I had panic attacks daily as a kid from either nightmares or my insane subconscious, I remember not sleeping till two in the morning simply out of fear at whatever was lurking in my room or at my door. However, I literally saw it, no one else did. The poem is really good.
