Jessa (me)A Chapter by ♋ Iris ♋We have to go back in time from Jamie's story. Back to when mom was about twelve. She lived about a block away from a small gas station. The gas station was run by a guy and his family friend was his main employee. The guy ran the store part and the eighteen year old ran the car repair. This eighteen year old went by the name of Elliot. Everyone called him Junior. My mom saw him a lot since she would go there almost everyday. When she got older and started driving, Junior had gotten to work more hours in the shop part. Since mom and grandma lived so close to the gas station, they could build a tab. "I don't have any money on me today, Junior. Put it on my tab?" "Sure thing." He was say back. Something else about Junior was that he was really handsome. He had the cool guy act down. He was so "cool", as my mom said, that he was in a band. The lead guitarist that could get any girl he wanted. Mom had grown up around the guy and developed a crush on him. There was a considerable difference in their age though so she couldn't see it happening. I mean, she was twelve when she first saw him. He practically watched her grow up into who she was now. Mom had moved to a town over and moved on. A few years later had gotten married and separated. (Jamie's story) A couple more years later, she went out to a bar one night with her friends. They were celebrating one of her friend's birthday. Her friend kept saying something weird to my mom. "It may be my birthday, but I have a surprise for you." Mom blew that off since her friend was already a bit tipsy. But she actually did have a surprise for my mom. They had gotten to one of the bars they were hitting up that night and there was a sign. The sign said that a band was going to be playing tonight. Mom smiled at the thought of her drunk friend waving her arms around. This was a nice surprise for her. "That can't be you. Julie?" Mom looked up at the driveway of the bar. A large van was parked on the curb and instruments were being carried in through the back. Mom blinked several times. "Elliot V*********, is that you?" She smiled and walked over the van. "The one and only." He had said to her. "You grew up." She smiled taking that as a compliment. He smiled back with the smile that my mother had never seen before. He had never looked that genuine in all of the years that mom had known him. She only just now noticed that her tipsy friend was giving her the thumbs up from the doorway. The two talked all night. They caught up on the things that the two missed out on. "How is Bill?" He asked. "How should I know? He just up and left me." She said looking away. "Oh... I'm sorry to hear that." She looks at him and touches her cheek lightly. "Or maybe not." He reached his hand out and touched her cheek as well. "Did he hurt you?" Mom still didn't look at him. He rubbed his thumb over cheek and looked her in the eyes. "He didn't deserve you, but he shouldn't have left you alone with nothing." She looked up at him and all those feelings she had for him came rushing back. Soon after that talk, the band had to go on. She watched him play and he watched her dance. Mom couldn't help but feel happy that she had gotten to see him again. At the end of that night Junior had some bad new to tell my mom. "I really loved seeing you again, Julie." "It was great seeing you, too." She says back to him. "I just wish I didn't have to leave so early." Mom had gotten a confused look on her face. "The band is going on a bar hopping tour around the states." She smiled in spite of her sadness. "Congratulations." She said. Thats when he leaned over and kissed her. "Its not something to be happy about." He said after he pulled away. She looked up at him sadly. She hugged him slowly. He lifted her chin up so he could see her face, and kissed her again. One thing lead to another that night. Mom woke up the next morning alone. There was a phone number on the table and an apology note. "Wait for me, Julie. I'll be back as soon as possible and I wont leave you again. I love you." Mom smiled to herself while reading this and went back to her home. At the time she lived with my grandma. Jamie was about three at the time and was happy to see her mother was home. She had not told her mom about that night. That is, she didn't tell her mom until her mom asked the question. "Are you pregnant?" Mom hadn't noticed a change at all; she was even having her normal periods. But grandma has that instinct and mom turned out to be three month pregnant. In all of those three months, she had never contacted Junior. She was going to be the waiting girlfriend, waiting faithfully. But she had to tell him this. She was half excited and half scared. He answered. They talked. She told. He hung up. Mom nodded and pulled out the note that she had held onto. "I'll be back as soon as possible and I wont leave you again, huh?" She said to herself. She ripped up the note and threw it away. "I don't think I can ever trust anyone again." She went to her room and rubbed her belly for a while. She was happy about being pregnant again. There were no regrets about that. She just didn't want to raise another baby in this world without a father. Too bad that is how it happened.
