on the rivers edgeA Poem by zzcomica man in between suicide and a slow freezing deathI walk along the frozen ledge, Crouching under the blizzards fury, And look within from the river's edge, Through the Ice to make inquiry, Of the stones that lie in wait, For my hand, or another man, Or some other worthy mate, To include them in some worthwhile plan, And each moment that passes I, I am beaten by Nature's flurry, And I approach that promised by and by, As I continue to make inquiry,
I wonder of earthen salvation, That maybe I, even I, could find, within that icy impregnation, to free me from this fleshly bind, If I broke the rivers water, and removed a single stone, could my fingers still slaughter, If they were frozen to the bone?
These thoughts move through my mind, Slower as they freeze inside, And I am taken by the blizzards fury, As I continue to make inquiry. © 2013 zzcomicAuthor's Note
