Abandonment in Abundance

Abandonment in Abundance

A Poem by Zeba Syed
"

Society pressures and depression dealt with the victim told firsthand.

"

Not by one but by all,

Be it summer winter or fall,

Humans advice, humans fail,

Lone advice doesn’t prevail!!

Flesh and bones, visions blunder

Hearts concern, beating heart feels

Caring eyes towards me, a wonder!

Marriage combines souls they say,

Souls are always apart I say

Meeting at vertex is impossible

Adjusting is a livelihood they say

Humans are born alone,

Earn alone,

Eat alone,

Die alone,

But “live for others” they say!

Is my soul at peace,

Does justice prevail,

Love thyself is selfish,

Selfless leaves a burdened soul I say!!

Taking away ones own life is depression

Driving person to the edge is suppression

Coming back from the edge is regression

Resulting life is aggression

Thusly leading to depression

Continuing the life cycle’s repetition

Abandoned by one abandoned by all

Though expected to adjust to all!

Smile away they say

Graves don’t reflect the same I say
