Like Mother, Like DaughterA Poem by zoophagousWritten for a "science/poetry" competition at school. Based on how (in one way or another) almost every atom has been turned into what it is by stars. (Does not include the Big Bang theory)Forged in the guts of ancient giants who sang their tired eulogy in silent solar flares. The eyes of God strung out upon Orion's waist; vomiting grass and nail varnish remover onto the skin given by her great-grand-mother. A dog in the park rubs his chest against my leg and I can feel the hum of warmth from the stars that purged him. Now scarred in white patches across his fur. And with eyes that have seen beyond sadness; sing now of gladness to exist yet. I stare back at my mother's pregnant belly 50,000 light years away. © 2012 zoophagous |
