Hiding PlaceA Poem by Zoe Marie Ross
What happened mum?
Why is my home like this? All I feel is numb... Everything of ours smashed, but his. I begin to help clean, Black bin liners, our possessions, Its the worst I've ever seen, I feel anger and pain. New sensations. I urge mum to call the police, It wont happen again, she says, Why does she think he means peace? Can she not see all this mess? He buys new things, replacing memories, Nothing can erase the emotional pain, The smiles, the laughter, hiding the miseries, When mum is alone, tears fall like rain. She isn't happy and neither am I, We'll end up running away again, He'll say jump, she'll say how high, And I'll be hiding in my den!
