PhilosA Poem by zoeybutnoA piece about a friendship not to be confused with romance.
The boundaries are clear, and they are boundaries we embrace.
These are boundaries that keep our sanity safe. It is caution tape that surrounds us, but in our eyes it's like velvet rope. Normal for us as human to be drawn to touch it, but it would be of no class to jump, and complete chaos if crossed. Lovers stare, and that we are not. Unrequited love is well known for stolen glances that bear guilt. But we are innocent and without burden. I feel no fear if I observe your face. And fear not, for the absence of enamor remains as an empty space. When I catch your gaze, my heart does not skip a beat. As I know it's only your eyes, and not your heart that stares my way. You like your elbows, and I like my hands. I like your height, and you probably like mine. You're always on my side, and as I am always on yours. But never invading personal space, or spaces we've left for others. Our humor is ours. Things of value not physical are what we share. Easily mistaken for something it's not, is what the unsuspecting person may see. But it's strictly Philos, and I do not struggle with that reality. © 2015 zoeybutno |
