Broken Memories

Broken Memories

A Poem by PurpleCupcake

Memories are like
a clock
thats ten minutes-
or a a year and three quarters-
late.
They're always in the past,
no matter how hard you try to
fix it.

Memories are like
a cracked mirror
old, blackening
and scared.
From countless hours of
trying to
rub the dirt off
because that couldn't possibly be
your face.

Memories are like
a shop full of photos,
portraits,
toy sailboats,
keys with no locks,
locks with no keys,
and those things your grandmother
might have played with as a child.
Accordions that don't play,
stale raisin bread,
pictures of cats and dogs,
bottled rain,
and pickle jars.

Memories are like
a broken set of emptiness.

Well done. You captured this emotion well! "Memories are like a cracked mirror old, blackening and scared." How wonderfully dark! Luv it! :0
