Forgive my clumsy tongue.

Forgive my clumsy tongue.

A Poem by zoehambridge

And I'll say the wrong thing,
And every word I've said will run circles around your mind,
And you'll sit up right in bed,
And lean to the window
And spark a cigarette.
And the smoke will rise
Suffocating us,
Dancing,
Beautiful and poisonous
Slightly like us.
And my clumsy tongue will apologise.
Again.
And my bitter sweet longing for you
At this very precise moment
Will cause my breath to be taken
And my hands, most likely shaking.
Will hold your hands, exactly where mine belong.
I'm sorry my darling.
Forgive me for the things I do wrong.

This is very descriptive, and quite sad. We all say things we don't mean and voice the things we shouldn't, and oft we see the consequences, as overwhelming as they might be. This is lovely. Thank you.
