Formed during the late 60s, Hip hop is believed to be the most vibrant and cultural art you will ever come across. It rose among African American youths residing in New York City. It is characterized by four distinct elements, all of which represent the different manifestations of the culture: rap music, turntablism or "DJing", b-boying and graffiti art. This kind was originated from the Ghetto Brothers, when they plugged the amps for their instruments and speakers into the lampposts on 163rd Street and Prospect Avenue and used music to break down racial barriers but KoolHerc is credited as the hip hop father.

During music Sampling we take a portion, or sample, of one sound recording and reuse it as an instrument or a sound recording in a different song or piece. We can say that sampling is an established music practice but it still generates strong legal debates. Even in today's’ digital age we worry about if sampling is really theft, or is copyright law making creativity a crime?

With modern digital technologies from Pro Tools to YouTube, it has become very easy for every individual in this planet to become a producer himself. We live in a world of remixes and mash-ups and samples, taking other people's work, remaking it into something new. The only problem is we have taken the person’s work without their permission and that is one very strong reason to get sued.

The law is very confusing when it comes to “sampling”. How much do you think of a song can be copied? A single note! The chorus! An entire phrase! What about the person’s permission who owns those copyright? Well, no one cares in the rat-race of gaining fame and money.

So, the safest way to make music samples is to get that sample cleared. This means contacting the relevant copyright owner and requesting a license (permission) from them to allow you to use the sample.

 MAKING MPC HIP-HOP:

MPC, was originally known to be MIDI Production Center and currently is known to be Music Production Controllers .These are a popular series of electronic musical instruments originally designed by Roger Linn and are produced by the Japanese company Akai since 1988.

To make MPC hip-hop, for a digital recorder to record sound, it has to ‘plot’ what the sound wave is doing in its own digital graph. The higher the resolution of this graph the more accurate the representation of the analogue waveform will be. Every plotted point of the waveform is called a sample.
