Look Up at the Nothingness

Look Up at the Nothingness

A Poem by Zoe Leah

Next time you're outside at night

Look up.

And point in any direction.

If the line were traveled

Would you eventually run into something?

The only thing seperating your tiny finger

From the tremendous star 13 million lightyears away

Is a very large amount of

Precisely

Nothing.

Space is quite literally just...

Empty space.

Our universe only has enough matter

To occupy half of what should be there

Everything is

Very simply

Hung in a multidimensional void

In unfathomable small particles with little spaces of

Nothing

In between.

Simple

It's like a fabric that can be moved about in

But not punctured or tampered with

Ifyou filled a jar with marbles

Yes, it may be 'filled' with marbles

But that's only because light can reflect off of them therefore making them detectable.

Infinite space is a shockingly hard concept to speculate about...

It makes no sense.

What keeps our particles of our bodies together?

What is it that makes us alive?

I know my body is functional,

I know I have a heart beat and

Brain activity

But all that i am is a bunch fluids and acids and tissue that can

Comprehend,

Think and

Understand

What is it to understand?

Do we ever really even grasp anything totally?

Are these just bottomless sensations we feel?

And I look up

But I see nothing.

But I feel.....
