I took her hand and looked in her eyes,
those pretty eyes, behind her disguise.
Wordlessly, she followed me,
Walking past the aimless sea.
Her skin was soft like a rose,
her movements graceful,
filled with deliberate care,
As she danced on thin air.
I danced with Cinderella that night,
before twelve, she bade me farewell.
Her glass slipper did not drop,
Her whole story was a flop.
I know because she whispered it in my ear,
her whole life was a made up lie.
Like believing pigs could fly.
I couldn't catch her fast enough,
to hold her tight and reply her smile
That I was willing to marry her then,
to tell her that I'm always there.
It doesn't matter what her life is like,
or that most of her is untrue.
What matters the most was her heart,
it was as cold as the winter's moon.

"I took her hand and looked in her eyes,
those pretty eyes, behind her disguise."
Just as some people can actually show no emotion in their eyes, it applies in this case. Imagine a beautiful girl behind a mask, a façade or whatever, like the eyes were glazed over.
"Wordlessly, she followed me,
Walking past the aimless sea."
Robotic yet human like. Walking in a sea of people, not standing out, just blindly following the person leading her.
"Her skin was soft like a rose,
her movements graceful,
filled with deliberate care,
As she danced on thin air."
Her shell that made her seem so emotionless and inanimate finally cracks and opens up to her partner. She is able to gain some form of emotion through expressing it through her dancing.
"I danced with Cinderella that night,
before twelve, she bade me farewell.
Her glass slipper did not drop,
Her whole story was a flop."
The partner realises everything he has been told was a lie, that everything he knew about the girl was not what it seemed to be. It comes as a shock then finally acceptance when the next stanza comes.
"I know because she whispered it in my ear,
her whole life was a made up lie.
Like believing pigs could fly."
Gaining her trust, she revealed to him who she really was. This boy, overcome with love decides to pursue her in the next stanza.
"I couldn't catch her fast enough,
to hold her tight and reply her smile
That I was willing to marry her then,
to tell her that I'm always there."
He wants to help her in a sense that he wants her to let him into her life, to make sure that she doesn't have to act anymore and doesn't have to live up to everybody's expectations. Scared, she runs away with a smile. Why is she smiling? Because she finally found someone to care for her but because she has been hurt so many times in the past but all the so-called princes, she immediately does what comes naturally, running away.
"It doesn't matter what her life is like,
or that most of her is untrue.
What matters the most was her heart,
it was as cold as the winter's moon."
He still wants to find this beautiful girl, but he knows it will be tough. He is determined to break her stone heart and give her life again, to help her see past the image people has conjured about her and help her get back to who she really is on the inside.
I was imagining if I were a new Cinderella. Many times she is used even in movies and in books, always the same thing, she runs away. I imagine if I were her and so many things were written about me, what if they were untrue? What if Cinderella were to do something different. So I imagined myself as her prince, there are so many princes that went after Cinderella, not just the Disney sense but also the other white knights from different movies and books as well. So the prince writes this poem of her, telling people to have a different mindset for her, to not assume who she is and let her find back her true self again.
I hope you enjoyed my poem. It's not my best but I guess it's passable. Thanks for reading(:
