Part 1: Chapter 5

Part 1: Chapter 5

A Chapter by ScintellaCadence

    I see some light turn on, except its all red and orange, then I realize my eyes are closed.
"Mom! I'm sleeping...its the middle of summer vacation!" I whine, and scrunch my eyes tight, to block out some of the light.
"Get up! It's two thirty three in the afternoon." She whips my covers off dramatically.
I sleepily sit up. Nobody is there, my cover is draped around the shape of my legs. The only light is the grey of the morning "Mom?" I'm totally disheveled and confused.
Oh. That's right. Mom. Mommy. The notion that she's still here is ridiculous. Who do I live with you're probably wondering. Okay, I live with my new mom, Natty. My old one could be possibly dead, and has been missing ever since I was a little babe. My dad isn't always here. Always gone it seems. "He was there, but then left before you came. Something about his boss..." Natty then turns quickly around. It's always the same. "Natty?!" I yell hoarsely. No answer. I stumble out of my bed and downstairs.
My eyes are still blurry after waking up, but my eyes are defiantly not deceiving me.
"Mom?"

                                                       * * * * *

Well that does it I must have psychic abilities. Oh, that's right, I am. I also have an odd mix of terrible emotions, and now I just want to either dis my unforgivable mom, or disappear like she did. I had no ides how to react and so I did nothing. I just stood there, sort of staring. My dad had suddenly decided to appear. "Avigail." My dad stood up. He came over and looked at me squarely. "WHAT?" I was so livid. Dad took a step back. "Wha-WHY, whats wrong with you people?" Then I took off.

                                                       * * * * *
I slammed open the heavy door with a shove and rolled into the cozy shop.
"My dear! Good heavens, must you enter in such a manner?" Mr. Ketchings asked in delicate voice. I was breathing hard and I didn't answer right away. "Miss Avigail Stone?" I coughed and then slowly stood up.
"Mr. Ketchings, tell me about well, me."
He grinned. "I knew you'd come through, you always did."
I raise my eyebrows, "Hm, what?!"
"In time you will know. In the meantime, tea and biscuits, or in my world, hot cocoa and a cinnamon bun?
