white lies

white lies

A Poem by ZmH

lies so soft, not even a whisper can hear
tears so light you could never feel
pain hidden in the shadows
never to be seen by light of day
betrayal in the gray

projected as black and white
you love me, i love you too
i hide in the shadows of the darkest room

little white lies won't illuminate my face
i thought i was a liar but it's your saving grace

wings of white, my savior
painted black with the simple smut of a demon
flawless skin, coated in ash
scented like burning coals
breathing life, no breathing smoke

letter signed in ink
blood runs black
signed, dated
you can't take it back

This is a powerful piece. There are so many layers here. You really show how destructive these things can be to oneself and to a relationship. Even a white lie is a deal with the devil and a hugely self destructive path to start down. Great job capturing that.
