A dream

hope glistened in the eyes of a young girl
a dream once shattered, a dream once shared
each moment more devastating each time more influential
each time left her in the dust of an old county road
tears left lines that time could not erase
and the pain swelled more then tears ever could
memories are never forgotten
no matter how much one wished they could be

peering out the window the trees fastly moving by
like each day in this always moving life
the trees grow taller
a few limbs stray
leaves fall to the ground only to come back again
the birds fly high
the deer creep low
in the forest of life everything grows
wiser we become
quick on our feet
a stranger to those whom we may never meet
family gets closer as we become more spread apart
feelings bloom and wilt away
but the feeling of betrayal will always stay
my leaves shed, only to come back again
my family goes apart
but you were never one of them
feeling bloom
and the weeds wilt them away
where were you all of those days?

you were nothing but a dream in the mind of a little girl
with tears and hope
you slowly shattered her world
