One Sweet Love

One Sweet Love

A Poem by ZmH

I hid in the shadows, a lonely girl, never to be found

Listening to echoes of the passing voices of love

The high pitched squeal came by and circled back, but it never stuck

It was just a headache for one already so confused

Another pill to my lethal cocktail

It slid down so nicely and soothed the pain for just awhile

Until my eyes fluttered shut and my lips were sealed

Resting peacefully among the emotionally ill

The darkness consumed me as the pills just coursed down

Love was my infinite drug

I scratched my skin until I bled

I sweated out all impurities

But I was left with the bitter craving

Love, oh sweet love how you coaxed me

Why is it now that you provoke me?

I swallow hard, but you just wont go down

A glass of water, just to fall to the ground

Hands at neck slowly choking

Oh sweet love, how you provoke me

This is so full of sadness and grief. This kind of love is not a healthy love ... when it's healthy, it doesn't feel this way.
