a poem for lauren

she once spoke with words so soft and fragile
i thought she was an angel with wings far stretched
with hair like tumble weeds and eyes of ocean blue
she loved me and for awhile i loved her too
life seemed like brighter days were coming
and hope was not lost in the light of the storm
but that's just what she was
she left my heart torn
i could scream a million screams
and no one would feel my betrayal
for i am weak by her words
and fragile to the touch
my trust was something i held close
not many gained or had the right to take
but she took and kept on giving until nothing was left to give
but this bitter taste of sorrow and little gratitude
im sorry i couldn't love the fakeness that behold your smile
im sorry i could not drown in pools that are your eyes
im sorry i felt no need to laugh at your fake suicide
lie to me
lie to me good
watch as i break like a young girl should
please lie to me
at least then an angel can make of fool of me
