nightmares

i hear it calling from the silence
ringing in my ears
the screeching sound of nothingness
filling my eyes with tears
light is dulled by dark
happiness drifted away
upon sunshine and rainbows
and dreams that would never stay
colors lose their luster
in this lonely night
thunder rolls
and lightning creeps
my eyes are closed but i no longer sleep
