The Edge Of A Heartless Blade

The Edge Of A Heartless Blade

A Poem by chris hoagland
"

trigger warning!!! this is mostly about my experiences going through depression and self harm

"
self inflicter
hollow silver
getting myself through another river
torn self harmer
another sliver
beautiful silver
undertow catching stronger

i look ahead and close my eyes tight
dropping the heartless blade

i let go of my footing and jump to the edge
barely catching the ledge with one hand
a small sigh of relief i let out as i see them stretching their hand out close to mine
as i lay back on the soft greener grass i open my eyes again to see you're not alone
there are more

each with a shy broken smile and an open heart for me
i realize

am i really alone here?
