when i thought of watching arcane with you

i thought of cuddles in bed

i thought of sitting in the space

between your legs, your arms

around my waist

my back against your chest

 

and maybe i could hold your hand

lace your fingers with mine as we watch

pull the back of your hand to my lips

and plant a chaste kiss -- i love you

 

and none of what happened

was also according to plan

because all i had were wishes

of a hug, of fingers laced with mine

of a movie, of kisses with friendship in mind

 

it sounds so silly

but i wish you were here with me

so i could lay across you in bed

reach out to run my fingers through your hair

look into your eyes as you tell me

how your trip has been

how the days in the city has been

how the rest of your months will be

how the world might burn

and you don't have to kiss me silly

but it must be silly

that despite everything we've done

what i yearn for the most

is to kiss the back of your hand

while your fingers are laced with mine
