the world in colors

the world in colors

A Poem by zeronineight

i see the world in colors

most days

it's loud and bright

and screaming at me

demanding

all of my attention

all at the same time

some days

it’s all tinged in gray

a colorful emptiness

where nothing matters,

even the passing of time

when i'm around people

i see the world

in different colors

it's a mix

of bright and dull,

like the world makes sense

and the colors simply exist

-- at least while we exist

in the same space

at the same time

when i'm with you

space and time

don't exist

the colors

are the most beautiful mash

of bright and vivid

yet dull and calm

it comes in tinges of orange

like the light in your bedroom

or the warmth that you bring

and it's comfort

and safety

and warmth

all packed in the same space

where time doesn't pass

until we realize the month is over

and maybe time did pass

but we didn’t feel it

in the haze of euphoria

like how we didn't

feel the other colors

closing in

caging us in one space

that when our colors refused to match,

it erupts in a million grays and a thousand blacks

even with our greatest efforts

-- especially in our greatest efforts

i see the world in colors

i saw the world in you

i watched the colors explode

and feel space

and time

get shaken

back

into existence
