first, it was gorgeous

because you simply were

 

i wanted to hold my hand out

when i met you in person

and ask you

if you wanted to get

to know me better,

know the many stories

the touch of my hand can tell

in its curves

in the way it shakes

or the way it grips you firmly

 

and call you gorgeous

with a smile on my face,

the kind you call nice

then, i called you

many names i also

called my friends --

dude, bro, mars

 

i suppose i was

navigating

this little world of ours,

trying to see where i fit

where we fit

where the parts connected

and pulled apart

 

i was looking

for a connection

that fit

that worked

for our little world of two

 

 

and that's when

i landed on love
