Some Truths

(in theory)

There is truth in saying

you mean the world to me,

or at least you used to

 

So I suppose there is

some truth in saying

I wish you're happier

 

I know

in so many ways

we were happy,

for so long

what we had

was enough

 

But we were different people

in different parts of our lives

and what used to be enough

couldn't last

couldn't stay

 

So in so many ways

I hope you are happier,

that what you have now

is enough

 

I hope they make you happy,

I hope you finally find it in you

to admit that you, too, are

 

That you love them

with no holds barred

 

 

And I guess,

there is so much truth

in my hopes for your future

but there is more truth

in my hopes

that I don't see you

happier,

at least not

with my own eyes
