Time Not GuiltyA Poem by zeraphim21
He sat at my side with heavy sigh,
Lacking his usual cruel flair, My eyes showed no interest in his appearance, As his words broke the silent air. What were you expecting of her? He spoke softly, his gaze watching mine, I shrugged, not knowing an answer to make, I got lost in a golden shine. He grunted, Happens to all time to time, I laughed with bitterness in my tone, Perhaps, but I should have seen it approach, I know this place well on my own. But to fall so easily to her words, Be led like a fool by her charm, "The dreams I keep," "One of the best feelings," Dramatic words served to disarm. Now left with naught but a memory, Realization of my mistake, Falling too hard for something not mine, A dream now seen to be fake. I sat watching wisps of clouds overhead, He chuckled and rose to his feet, My sympathy, sir, you'll not see it again, Although I've no doubt again we shall meet. I watched him move away with no hatred, To resent him I was forced to halt, For though time is capricious and cruel, In this case with she and I lay the fault. © 2013 zeraphim21 |
