Her LipsA Poem by zeraphim21Her hair falls round my shoulder, Like a soft cascade of gold, My arm encircles her tightly, Refusing to release my hold A sigh of contentment escapes Her cheek warm to my hand, She leans in close against my touch, In this moment so unplanned An hour, a day, a week before, If told I would hold this girl, In this place, at this time, as close as she is I’d have paused at my heart in a whirl. At the intoxication of her presence, The scent of her draws me near, Soft to my touch but strength in my arms, I struggle my feelings to make clear That night drew onward longer, Than I had dared to hope or ask, I knew inside it would end, But my mind only on the task. To make her feel safe, warm, and cherished, If in my power only till the moment passed, Was in that moment my highest honor, Every dream and fantasy surpassed. As the stars passed higher in the sky, As our wistful looks grew more, I felt an ache to hold her longer From her eyes mine I tore. The time of departure arrived, But my rapture increased awhile, For a laugh and her lips touched my cheek, And she drew back with a saucy smile. My pen has been known to write long, To rely on words for tear or laugh, But to tell you of the heaven I reached, My pen cannot communicate the half. To take this angel in my arms, Bathed in moon and lamplight, To meet her lips with mine in harmony, For a moment, all was right. My dear Allison, my skills are far too small, To tell you, thank you, make you see, make you smile The pleasure you put in my grasp, Your embrace unmatched save by your lips in that while. © 2013 zeraphim21 |
