Melody

Melody

A Poem by zeraphim21

The melody flows, lilting,
Round walls that hide the pain,
Flowing around without harmony,
With the ice of a chilling rain.

The melody showed signs of warmth,
Gentle laughter splashed at times,
Breaking the pattern of icy notes,
With a smile adding to the rhyme.

The melody hid inside the stone,
Keeping it repaired with care,
The walls were built with strength,
Meant to trap the melody there

The melody rose and fell,
Notes sometimes weak then strong,
I listened at the keyhole,
For entrance seeking long.

Faintly though it played,
Soft the tones poured out,
I longed to hear it fuller,
Pleading for entry I sought.

The melody was bound in ice,
Its notes held with chains,
For in those walls found not safety,
But the company of all her pains.

The melody believed she was the first,
To have tears accompany her song,
To play without harmony she was resigned,
Though the song be short or long.

The melody was to be treasured,
Cherished in warmth while playing,
To be enjoyed in harmony,
The beauty would go without saying.

The melody flows, lilting,
Round walls that hide the pain,
Flowing around without harmony,
With the ice of a chilling rain
