Self Inflicted Callousness

Self Inflicted Callousness

A Poem by Hello, Goodbye
"

..i return time and time again, to that horrid pain..

"

Why do I return to what causes me anguish?

Why do I learn nothing from what often ails me?

Here I suffer pain over failing to comply

Conscience... when coveted most, it’s an absentee

I feel the horrid pain but not the memory

I feel this instance.. yet not what was before

It’s as if chemical synapses I misapply

Is it that… secretly…  masochism I adore?

we get used to things; we call them home...it takes courage to leave

Some strong emotion causes you to come back and repeat the cycle of pain over and over again. And with time Your heart becomes callous. "Why do I return to what causes me anguish?" The question is always why?

Nice work =)
