‘The Death of a Creator'

‘The Death of a Creator'

A Poem by Hello, Goodbye
"

..lack of sadness, void of emotional material..

"

Sadness weighs me down because of knowing,
That poetry won't arrive, unless despondency is flowing.

Love, joy, and happiness minor passions, they do convey.
But a large amount is shaped from depression, anger, and hate.

As I slowly pace to gain, a bareness of angst within my heart,
It persuades artistic virtues, in my mind to become scarce.

As joy disallows despondency from captivating all control,
It debilitates the merits of my passion filled soul.

So sadness is then augmented as I come to realize,
The inevitable consequence, my poetic presence will die.

Author's Note

Hello, Goodbye
As time goes on I have learned to bring joy into my life... and I have found that the least amount of depression I have.. the harder it is to create poetry..

This is an accurate portrait of where a lot of poets have been, myself included! Fittingly, the last line sums up the entire head space - "The inevitable consequence, my poetic presence will die"

I predominantly write sad poetry myself (for the same reason you do!), but may i suggest Charles Bukowski's "Let it Enfold You" :)

Awesome piece, and so true for many of us. However, last night I realize joy could be inspiring if I let it. I went from the this world of everyday life into the next. It felt strangely different, but refreshing.
