To Be Or Not To Be... A Daddy

What are Daddies made of?

 

Hold on, stop the presses! We have been misled.

To be a Daddy means so much more than the lies that have been fed.

No, you don't just make a baby and walk away,

There's way more to it and I'm going to tell you today.

There's nothing like spending some quality time,

Teaching your girls how to rock climb,

Showing your boys it's okay to cry,

And answering all the questions when they ask why.

It may be hard to have patience with them.

Try, count to 10, remember being young just like them?

Remembering wanting to hang out with your Dad?

You and him finally go somewhere and you were so glad.

Daddies should never be out of reach,

Daddies should want to take you to the beach,

Daddies are understanding though a bit different than mamas,

Daddies have different ways to calm us.

Yes now you know what being a Daddy entails,

Though this is only some, not all the details,

But truthfully the only thing a Daddy really needs, 

Is unconditional love for every one he seeds.

You just made me cry! I love every word of this. I cry because not all Daddies stay=(
My children don't have a father. This is beautiful though..very heartfelt. My Dad is my hero..he never let his children down. He raised us..and was always their for us. My dad is awesome. And I'm sure like most parents who are their for their children sometimes you sacrifice many of your own dreams to give your children the very best you can. It matters..they're the future. If only all dads felt like the one in this poem..who knows how our world might be today. Delightful and very sweet write=)

Mineisn't THE BEST, but he is the best... He had some problems, some diffucilties coping, but he is still the most amazingly awesome dad in the world!!! I love him so much:P And i also loves this poem.
