Chapter 1A Chapter by zelly60Gysett put on the strange looking necklace. It was fairly plain, except for the jewel. The jewel changed color, it seemed with her mood. It would change from purple to blue to red, and even one, pink. She's had it ever since she could remember. She looked at herself in the mirror. Her brown hair framed her beautiful elvin face. She had small features, but that made her beautiful. She made one last check to make sure look decent. "Gysett! You're going to be late," her mother called. She groaned and ran down the stairs. "Yes?" she asked. She knew her sense of time. It wasn't like she was stupid or anything. "You're not wearing that to school and you really will be late," her mother said. She rolled her eyes and ran out the door to her car. She needed to go pick up Logan and hope to get to school on time, which was pretty much an impossible task every morning. She ran out to her beat up pick up truck and raced over to Logan's house. "Come on, we don't have all day," Gysett mumbled to herself as Logan ran into the truck. He had done that two other times this week and wondered whether or not his sight was okay. "Logan, really, you need to stop running into my truck. It's beat up enough already, I don't know how many more times it can take you running into it," she said, driving down the road, screeching to a halt at the stop sign that she almost ran. "I'm sorry I'm not paying attention. You should pay attention to the road," Logan said in his British accent. Gysett looked at her friend with mock offense. Logan was tall and lean. His black hair was cut at an angle against his forehead and his bright blue eyes shown beneath the hair. Gysett was utterly in love with him, but she'd never say that to anyone. "Well, we would be perfectly on time for school if you were ready earlier," she said laughing. "It takes a while to look this good," Logan said, ruffling his hair. "It takes a while to look this good, yeah right," she said in a mock British accent. "You're hilarious Gysett, you know that right?" he said sarcastically. A few minutes later, they were pulling into the high school parking lot. They only got a few feet because there was such a large crowd standing in a circle. Gysett quickly parked and ran over to see what the issue was. Logan was right behind her. What she saw was strangely familiar to her, as though from another life. As she got closer, she realized that it was some sort of communication device. As she drew closer, the device began to glow and vibrate. It wasn't large, maybe the size of a cell phone. The device was clear, apart from a glowing orb in the middle of the device. The device was ovular in shape. "Gysett, I wouldn't touch it if I were you," Logan warned as Gysett stepped closer to the object. "You're not me. I feel that I'm supposed to take it," Gysett said, picking up the object. Immediately, the device began tovibrate harder. The crowd around Gysett stepped back a little, apart from Logan, who stared at his friend in wonder and amazement. © 2009 zelly60 |
