Chapter 8

"

Murphy is based on a person I actually know.

"

Was she dead? She couldn't tell. Everything around her was white. She must be dead. There was no other way to explain the white around her. Suddenly, it felt as though she was thrown against something. Was this part of being dead? If it was, she didn't want to be part of it anymore.

"Is she dead?" She heard her brother ask. She certainly wasn't dead if she could hear. Yet, she couldn't be... She had been shot through the head. There was no way she was alive. Yet, she heard her brother asking if she was dead. In any event, she couldn't move.

"No, she's not dead. I have no idea how she lived through that. Nobody I know has lived through getting shot in the head at such a close range. The only thing that can explain this is either the protective spell of your father or extreme magical abilities," Murphy said. She opened her eyes to see Jasin's worried face and Murphy's face. His was filled with relief, and was that... Love? She couldn't tell.

"Welcome back Wren," Murphy said softly. He offered his hand. With some difficulty she lifted her hand and took his. He was incredibly strong if he could lift her like he did. She had to put no effort into it at all. She looked around her for the first time. It looked like an apartment. There were black curtains over the windows and a few beat up chairs positioned around the room. To her right there was a table with a few chairs, a refridgerator, and a stove. It was small, but looked cozy enough.

"What is this place?" She asked looking at Murphy. He blushed a little. She could tell, he liked her.

"This is my apartment. I know it isn't much, but I call it home," He said, looking around. He started to lead her into the kitchen, but didn't get very far as she started to fall. He was very quick in catching her. She looked over at Jasin, who just had the blankest stare she'd ever seen on a person. Apparently he didn't know what to think of this growing relationship. She didn't mind it.

"Hungry?" Murphy asked, sitting her in a chair.

"A little. Am I really okay?" She asked. He stopped rumaging through the cupboards for a minute and looked at her.

"I certainly hope so. I believe you will be though," He said, going back to his search for food. He finally pulled out a box of noodles after several minutes of searching.

"Pasta sound good?" He asked them. The twins nodded. She didn't care what she ate, just as long as she got food.

A little while later, the pasta was done and the three of them sat down to a nice dinner. After dinner, they washed all the dishes and went to find places to sleep. Jasin picked a couch. He barely fit on the thing because he was so tall. She looked around and saw a recliner. She went over to it and sat down. Murphy grabbed her arm.

"You can sleep on my bed. I'll take the recliner," He said.

"I couldn't possibly do that," She said. He pushed her into his room.

"Yes, you can. Good night," He said, shutting the door.
