Forbidden Magic

I have placed enchanted locks
on the peaks and valleys of my mind -
they are a mystery to me,
as captivating and enigmatic
as any lost continent.

I fear that death will overtake me
before I've had a chance
to scale the heights, and plumb the depths
of these uncharted reaches.

But then,
death is an undiscovered realm in itself,
and it is always
close at hand.

Sometimes, when I am lost in a valley for awhile, the thought of death always being close at hand comforts, rather than frightens me ☺ But I've never been one for mountain climbing. Love this!

Yes that's right. I'm never far from a valley these days it seems and so thoughts of death are constant. Sounds bad but it really just comes with the territory.

yes, death is close at hand, always....but if we keep climbing, we will reach some of those peaks and find some magic...we can't expect to climb all of them in a lifetime...not feasible...but the undiscovered keeps our incentive alive to explore.

nice, well written with excellent flow, but I suggest that the word 'undiscovered' be used only once and try to find a better adjective for 'continent'
