Love the reference to the sword of Damocles. That all fit together quite well to make a powerful piece. I've been looking through your writing, I enjoy what I've found. Nice work, man :)

Thanks Josiah,
I appreciate the review and will be sure to return the favour.
made me start humming a Strawbs' song..."round and round we go, round and round and round we go"
with our square eyes...don't believe what you see in them...behind closed pupils stirs trouble.

The most horrific nightmare I ever had was my cat sitting on a yellow dump truck and then the color yellow filled my entire field of vision back when I was a kid. Haha! My heart has never pounded as hard as it did since that night. It's the subtle horrors that are the most terrifying. I enjoyed your write. You win the Damocles-off 😊
Wow. Just thinking of how a simple change like that would leave you insane, unless maybe you had square eyes too, then that would probably be okay.
That sword always seems to have a hairline trigger.

I have sometimes caught myself in a train of thought that was complete lunacy, and thought 'Where did that come from?', knowing that to stay in that mode of thinking would probably constitute insanity.
And the sword doesn't need much encouragement to fall.

I was talking to my mum about a guy who killed, got released and killed again within hours. I went on rant mode about how that wouldnt happen if jail was being put in a cage for the full sentence and none of this xbox in the cells pampering. Before I had finished I had sentenced around half the worlds population to death. It was worrying how easily it would be to get lost in the hate. I often wonder if tyrants regret being such terrible people, then I remember I made it a crime in my fantasy where im in charge to wear orange and purple on the same day. Best to leave that box closed pandora. :)

Maybe tyrants are sociopaths, but I think a part of them knows they are awful people.
The problem is that sometimes we are awful too.

True dat. But was your friend suitably sentenced for his crimes against vision and taste. :)
