Polka dot stockings and youA Poem by z.chériSame truths, same lies.
I went outside yesterday with
my red coat, polka dot stockings, my oversized handbag and you. Yes of course, you weren't there, I understand that. You were on a work vacation with some chick you met a couple days after you told me you loved me. I went outside and it was warm so I took off my red coat and you said I was beautiful. oh wait no, you weren't there because you were with that other chick, your friend. Maybe you said that word so many times before to me, especially when you were lonely, that it was engraved into me. You must have been very lonely. So was I when you were gone and you said you needed a few more days on your work vacay because the editors weren't writing your stories and poetry the way you wanted them written. You work for a casino, you never write. I went outside yesterday and I went to the beach and I could feel the sand and the sun and I hated it because it made me think of you. I hated the air, the water, the birds, the children running past. I hated my red coat, polka dotted stocking, my oversized handbag and you. © 2018 z.chériAuthor's Note
