The Temptation of Love

The Temptation of Love

A Poem by zcam

And then, I found the cause of pain was fake—
She was no more a beauty than a sheep;
False as these lusty pleasures, you tempting snake,
Crossed lover, suffer naught—in hell tis you I keep.

When Love shows first her diamond open eyes, you lure
The setting sun reflecting in the moon;
This shift in tides, when both are present more,
Gives way to passion— two sides bonded soon.

And I the shepherd, to your Lovely side,
To watch and wonder in your Lovely lips,
One, shrouded in faith, lifts me, from deep inside
To trust your every touch, your fingertips,

And as you fell from me, my heart let weep—
‘Til I found truth, another took you to this endless sleep.
