It had just started to darken as I started my hunt for animals, the only things that I ate any more. The guy at the high school kept flashing through my mind all the way home, I have the strangest sensation that I have seen him before. I have the feeling he is connected to my change...but how? Was he the one who bit me? I needed to know, but right now I needed blood, although I hated it, I need to feed on it or else I would die. I never attacked humans if I could help it; instead I fed on unsuspecting animals.
Blood stained my hands on the way home. Before I reached my house I saw the mysterious guy from school in the distance. He looked directly at me and smiled before vanishing into the night. When I got home I cleaned myself up, but to me the blood was still there. Sitting on my bed I stared at my mother’s photo, it was like she was sitting there with me. I stared at it until I fell asleep, holding her photo in my hands.
Morning came and it felt like all my problems fell to a bottomless pit. Putting my mother’s photo up, I got dressed and went for a run. I was glad that I could still live a normal life even with the strange and horrible stuff that has, or is happening to me. When I reached the town it was empty and lifeless, there was no one walking their dogs or heading to school, it was like everyone had vanished into thin air. After a while I started to head home, my journey started to turn interesting once I started to hear voices.
‘They’re coming,’ the voice seemed to linger around the town square, looking behind me I saw a little girl with bright blue eyes, ‘Go! Leave! They’re coming,’ she yelled and as fast as she appeared she was gone.
I continued walking home, her voice echoing throughout my mind. I couldn't make any sense of it. Arriving home, the door was broken off its hinges and lying on the other side of the room. I stepped inside cautiously and heard a squelching beneath my feet. Bodies littered the floor and blood stained the carpet, a message was scrawled on the wall with blood.
You leave and they live.
It was the town’s people, the bodies in my house. It was the town people, it was their blood everywhere. It’s my fault they died.
I ran out the door tears in my eyes. The vampire speed came to me like it had always been there. I don’t know where I'm going, or when to stop running, but I couldn't go back. I should never have left the house. I need to stay behind a closed door or else terrible things like this will happen. If I'm not careful something else could happen to me...or will happen to me.
