Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Volker

Sleep, you fool
You who reached deep inside me
You who wrenched my hope,
My life,
My very soul,
Stole them from me and set them ablaze
Leaving them as naught but ashes
I have nothing left but pain
Pain and bloodlust

So sleep, sleep, you fool
Let your dreams take you into your paradise
For I live in my own dreams now
And this is one nightmare you don't wake up from
How quick you were to judge me
To hate me
Yet now, even as the ropes wrap around your useless, pathetic form
You have no idea what hatred is
Not yet

Sleep, you fool
Why do you not sleep now?
Do not fear the blade
The smooth, beautiful steel glimmering in the light of the moon
Return to your paradise,
For soon you will be in mine,
The realm of agony and darkness you cast me into
Why tremble before your creation,
Your Frankenstein?

Sleep, you fool
Can you not close your eyes?
Can you not avert them from me?
Let my blade aid you in your goal
Do not fear it
It exists only to help you
Why do you cry out so loudly?
Why must you offend that whose very existence is for you?
For your resolution

Sleep, you fool
Silence your screams
There are no monsters here
None but you
I am nothing but the hunter of demons
The executioner of that which slithers and creeps
My blade is my comrade,
Your comrade
Your savior

Now sleep, you fool
My blade tires of you
It no longer wishes to hear your pleas
You have betrayed it
Turned against it as you did me
It no longer exists to serve
Only to extinguish
With just a kiss to your neck
It gives you just one command

Sleep, you fool...

Wow, why is that the visage of Dexter and his kill room burst so brightly in my mind's eye? Your friend in words, Pete
