Addressed to the Muses

Addressed to the Muses

A Poem by Gleb Zavlanov
"

To the muses...

"

Give me my pen and feed my heart with muse,

And I shall write until the night transforms

Into the morning, when the earth imbues

And quakes with spirits of the sleeping worms.

I’ll glean as gleans a reaper golden grain

Sweet dreams, which with some mystic magic swell

And set my spirit and my burdened brain

Free from the fleshy temples of their cell.

My quill would spill sweet words as if it’s dew

Or some ambrosial nectar from a fount

In Heaven’s reign. My tongue shall throb anew

With gilded glory. Evermore I’ll mount

Into the cloudless climes of deep midníght

Just give me paper and the will to write!

I'm sure Gleb the muses would be just as pleased as I was. Your poetry is superb. The rhythm and cadence flow like a river filled with fresh rain.

A beautiful poem. The above lines were my favorite. Many kinds of muses. Old age made the ancient writers my muses. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. :)
Spectacular! This poem flows so well, adorned with beautiful words and imagery, yet the flow is never disrupted. I would compare this to a river of molten silver, beautiful, sublime, and graceful. A joy to read.

Splendid ending Gleb! I believe many people on the site feel exactly the same way. I know I do.

Love this poem, it flows so well.
I seem to be on board with a few others when I say that the ending to this piece was just perfect. Beautiful!

This is a great poem; I especially like this plea in the final couplet. We all owe our Muse a poem or two... :)

Indeed, we do. :)
It climbs the mountain but takes the tortuous route I'm afraid. There are crags within the nooks and crannies... a fractal landscape that is nearly barren but here and there a sprig of moss or lichen and the occasional pile of stones from pilgrims that passed the same way many times before but long ago -- their bones, bleached and white upon the same slopes -- all hoping to attain that illusive summit.
