A Poem by Zatoichi
"

There is no greater joy than knowing you've made someone's life better, if only for a moment.

"

Yesterday I fixed dinner for a toothless 89 year-old woman.
We had tomato and basil bisque,
butternut squash, baked and seasoned with
sea salt and maple syrup and
Atlantic cod sauteed in herbs, splashed with lemon.

She ate all but the crust on the fish.
She held the soup to her mouth and drank,
handing me the empty bowl for just a little more. Sated,

she smiled and bowed her head slightly
in silent gratitude. This was her first meal in a week.

There is joy to be found in service to others.
