Wash Cloth

Wash Cloth

A Poem by Alex Davis

Wash Cloth

Wash away your dirt, your troubles, your sorrow

wash it all off, all of your issues and your muck

Wash it all away, your grime shouldn’t be here tomorrow

And when you’re all done, hang your wash cloth on its rack

For despite all your washing, your dirt’s there tomorrow

Its left on your rag, but it’s ok, Rag’s got your back

You visit everyday, you pass on your baggage, and you wave it goodbye

You smile and you wave as you leave him to dry

Poor wash cloth …

wow, this poem took a different direction once i realized the 'wash cloth' was a person. i like it because it does deal with how sometimes people use us, whether we notice and acknowledge it or not. nice movement and imagery. thank you for putting this feeling into words :)
