Friendship Lagoon

Friendship Lagoon

A Poem by Alex Davis

Friendship Lagoon

far worse is the sadness bearing no tears,

behind a smile it lurks, your heart it sears,

this bitter sweet sorrow in irony is found,

gut wrenching pain without peep nor sound,

woe the irony herein abound,

to be so close and yet so far,

my heart, an invisible force did mar,

worse is the pain you must hide,

worse is the pain, semi-sweet in its tide,

what’s one to do? when his relief is his pain,

what makes him feel better, makes it worse all the same,

naught will make whole, not time nor swoon,

woe be the ballad, of Friendship Lagoon.
