A Soldiers Prayer

A Soldiers Prayer

A Poem by Alex Davis

A Soldiers Prayer

Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray,

Oh God! my Father, who art in Heaven,

hallowed be Thy name,

for this hallowed ground now holds many fathers

Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done,

on earth as it is in Heaven,

for my will has failed, my world is ruin,

give us this day our daily Bread,

for i’ve had my fill of mans creation

and forgive us our Trespasses,

for i am the worst of sinners

as we forgive those who trespassed against us,

for their sins are my own, and they have paid more than i

and lead us not into temptation,

for i have found it myself

and Deliver us from evil,

Deliver those i’ve hurt, near and far, as they are many

Protect those i mean to Protect, for Yours is the Only Protection Worth having

for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory, Forever and Ever,

have mercy, as a place in your Kingdom i do not deserve

Amen …

… and when he goes to Heaven, to his Lord he will say …

“one more soldier reporting sir, i’ve served my time in Hell.”
