Birthday During War

Birthday During War

A Poem by zainul
"

Wish you a very happy birthday !

"
War is not a game ,it is an exercise of  life and death
War erupts from conflicts of interests or religious faith
You didn’t expect procession of war victims around you
But cruel reality brought suddenly ugly and painful view
Peace or war whatever happens ,the events  of time will not cease
You are facing your birthday in such a tumultuous moment
You will not plan a pleasant ceremony for enjoyment  and ease.
But make sure to celebrate the day of birth as your exclusive event.
We are marking the moment despite scream of suffering people
Let there be peace ,let the war is over ,let there be happy ripple.
We hope your forthcoming birthdays will not be tarnished  by war
Wish you a very happy birthday !Enjoy a lovely and divine shower.

It must be very difficult to celebrate any occasion when one is caught in the whirlwind of war. The death, violence and suffering would make us feel too guilty to celebrate. We have to be grateful for small mercies, however. A birthday means we are still alive when many other unfortunates have lost theirs in war. The world really needs peace and an end to suffering.

These meaningless wars are like deja vu of my high school years during Vietnam.
I hated it then; nothing has changed about my position .

yes zainul, war is a terrible thing, country leaders never seem to be satisfied with what they have.

if the leaders themselves were required to be at the front line & face the possibility of death themselves they might re-think their greed or whatever,

re birthdays, I don't like celebrating them it reminds me i'm getting older & closer to my coffin! yes I know that's a bit of negative thinking but it's still how I feel about birthdays.

blue skies to you, cheerio carola

Thank you Carola for the mind blowing comment.
I hope you are doing well.
Loss of life is so troubling these days with mass shootings and a war in Europe; it's hard to find some happiness, some hope that soon times will be better. So, no matter what is happens on your special say, one should celebrate, because these dark days may go on for some time, before we see the light
Very relatable.

Dear zainul, we live in such troubled times and it is heartbreaking to know so many lives are being lost. Decent people want war over and for peace to be in place. It is difficult to celebrate birthdays while such suffering is going on. I wish and pray for peace and also that there are many happy birthdays for everyone. You words echo the thoughts of many.
