Wishing for happiness

Once we used to wish others while we prefer to wash now

Once marriage was bondage of love, now tool for extortion

Once doctors had a mission for serving people with solemn vow

Currently most love to harvest money from quick prescription

 

Once politicians risked life for the welfare of common people

Now they gain fortune with poly tricks through exploitation

Teachers were once idols whose good deeds created ripple

Strangely many became cheaters and practiced corruption

 

Religious leaders were once safe for all men and women

Now sadly enough we hear many events of molestation

While in media industry once only few could complain

Yellow press is now dominating with unethical fashion

 

Movie ,song, theater and writing once depicted real life

Many of them recently resorted to naked presentation

Once the traders believed in honesty despite bitter strife

Now most make wealth through fraudulent collaboration

 

We may mention thousands good things of the past

Wishing them back everywhere may not be unjust

yes, i totally agree with you in principle, zainul.

however, i sometimes wonder if the modern media these days has more access to anyone they feel like talking to, less consideration of peoples privacy & try to besmirch anyone for their own newspaper's publicity whilst in the process of making money.

reading old historical newspaper articles, i see how in the olden days, they just reported the facts & the editors didn't try to influence people's way of thinking, be it for political reasons or courtroom outcomes or anything else.

anyway, just my opinion for what it's worth.

Dear Carola,I am very happy that you stopped by and offered the insightful review.It is true,time is changing and trends,mannaers and values are also changing.We should not expect all activities should be favourable to all of us.But most of us may logically expect conscientious,judicious and sympathetic treatments.
You have rightly pointed out that in the olden days,newspapers just reported the facts and the editors didn't try to influence people's way of thinking, be it for political reasons or courtroom outcomes or anything else.
For your query of the use of the word,wash,I have taken an example from a famous contemporary speech of young climate activist,Greta Thunberg.Kindly watch the video and find the use of "wash" in her speech.I specially love this young activist for her straightforward addresses.

Everything has changed and it will keep evolving, though we may not like it. I can remember going to the movies as a kid and watching black and white newsreels (movies) of only news, no commenting, no editing;on the news is comments, mostly one-sided today, that's all they do . I agree with your assessment of many changes that have taken place over the years in all phases of life, but we must adjust and be proactive about it if necessary. fondly, Betty

Beautiful penning of the good olden days The question arises why this problem has crept and has caught its hold so firm.I believe we are nurturing superficially ,the values taught earlier all have gone at back stage.

Some things have changed for good. Sadly the media and the Internet have played a huge part in this politically. . We no longer know what is truthful and what is fake. I am thankful that at least I knew times that were more trustworthy. My grandchildren won't. Interesting write zainul.

Well speaking of which, those goldens days are not gone....To be very frank, here in India doctors are still worshiped, during this pandemic doctors policemen and all others like sweepers cleaners gave up there comfort zones and families just for the sake of their country...Teacher's struggle is no less as today's technology is not child's play. They take care of family, students and what not! So all i can say is that the tables are turned and people are not that bad as we think of them and all those moments are recreated daily just in a different manner!
