Wailing of cicada filled the air, The home seems dead despite its splendor. Beauty of spring lost its flair, Shadow of grief gripped young and elder.
The little boy charmed all by intelligence, His hunger for knowledge was well known. A disease harbored in his blood in silence To summon all neighbors to mourn.
The father of the boy became speechless, His dream for making him a prince has gone. His happy life has turned to a mess, Memories of the sweet child prick as thorn.
An old man walked to the mourning father, He touched him softly and uttered. "God protects all creatures with love forever. Please keep strength of mind and stay steadfast"
The broken person remained silent for a while, Tears rolled down his cheeks like stream. He remembered his son's pain and smile, His emotions burst out like scream.
The old man embraced the person with love, They cried together praising the innocent boy. The place was blessed by divine dove, The person tossed the child's clothing and toy.
Diseases like leukemia bring premature death. People lament the loss and renew their faith.
This is brilliant, touching and runs like a film in front of my eyes as I read.
A disease harbored in his blood in silence... how true!
It is heart wrenching that such a little fellow with dreams and future had to go away.
I lost my grandfather to it. Only regret I have is not making much memories with him. I was a kid. I'm flooded with mixed emotions whenever someone tells me of the traits we share. He used to write poetry, too.

Zainul ! Your poem has clouded my eyes and tears run a stream. This is such a poem where human vulnerability and a deep sense of loss cascades within and pierces the marrow. You have captured the true and sharp manifestation of a human loss - both for the one departed and us mortals to grieve perpetually. People say "time heals", I do not think one can ever heal from such a loss as the memories stay with us and often times become silent companions and other times turbulent serrated pangs.
The undertones of the verse shall linger with me for some time.
Keep shining with your ink !

Let's also realize that our stay in this world is very transient.

...And, the feeling is oh so mutual - I value your friendship, equally !
You weaved this story/Poem into a wonderful basket, you filled it with details that bring the story home to every reader.
You built stair steps for understanding. at the top landing I see there once again a familiarity called
"Faith" and "Hope"
Like the moral of a story, you said it in two sentences :
"Diseases like leukemia bring premature death.
People lament the loss and renew their faith."
Death never scared me nor does my heart pain so much that one dies, knowing they are free and in a better place or state of being.
It is the survivors of those passing on that live with pain, suffering and loss.
yet so heart wrenching a little boy had to know this suffering and pain before leaving.
Someday we will understand all things, For now we are left in sorrow and have only Faith to console us.
If this was something you witnessed which I think it was,My heart goes out to you. It is hard to witness and yet even harder if you are the care giver.
I do send a prayer and a hug to you.

I am angry I didn't stop some more of the beatings, I was a child but I could of done more. But the slicing of my heart was cauterized ,with understanding, what good is wishing her back into this world of suffering. She no longer is in pain.
It's a hard thing to feel like we couldn't do enough for our Mothers.
or any soul. But we do what we can and we have to accept it all as good.
Be at Peace.... We are in a sacred Spiral of life and soon we will spiral out and into something glorious.
A poignant powerful read that stirs emotion from the depths of my heart and soul. Painful to read, but a piece of lovely art that brings awareness how serious these diseases are and how they affect the young and old. Love the line "People lament the loss and renew their faith". As the tears fall it oftentimes is only our faith in God that gets us through such pain. What I took from this the most is we must truly cherish each day as we never know what the future holds. Hold firm to our faith.

I am so moved by your poem. The love is evident as is the loss. The words the old man spoke and the father's need to scream into the wind all paint a picture too many still experience. There is no greater tragedy than too lose a child and you've captured the pain and honored the boy giving him life and aspirations in the poem so that we might feel his spirit even for a moment. Your poem brought me to tears. I am sorry for the loss of such a beautiful soul and that prayers and memories help to soothe but I don't believe anyone touched by him will ever truly be healed.

The thoughts of the tragic death of the boy and the consequent pain of his parents make me upset.

leukemia take the best from us. My step-brother had beaten leukemia three times. Doctors say the third time was a miracle. I don't know. My sister lost her nine year daughter. We cried together and today a part of us had not awaken. Kids don't support to die before parent. I did like the ending. Sometime tears and prayers is all we have. Thank you for sharing the powerful poetry.
