Your poem makes us realize of our often made mistakes. At first we don't care about our possessions. But, when the possessed thing gets out of our reach, we regret of our mistake.
I can get you, longing for a bird that you lost.
An another great write.
Pen on.

It is so easy to let little birds slip away. I see you poem as an analogy for anything precious that we have lost. Sometimes they don't come back and stay frolicing in the tress. Ah, but life is a learning experience, isn't it?

I agree with your analogy for anything precious that we have lost.I also agree that and also sometimes they don't come back and stay frolicking in the tress.
Your wonderful review made me think over which precious things or persons I have lost for ever during the last half of a century of my effective lifespan.
I have not enough words to reciprocate your wonderful review.
Thank you so much,dear friend.:)
A very nice metaphor for the loss of love due to lack of care. I enjoyed the rhyme scheme although I have to confess that sometimes the meter seemed a bit off. The first line of the third stanza is where I tripped when reading it aloud.

I express my heartfelt gratitude for this favor.
I will try to fix the meter and other problems later when I will get time for revision.
In fact, this is a usual problem with the rhyming.
Free verse perhaps has a little flexibility and advantage over the rhymed ones.
I feel blessed that you stopped by to grace this piece.

I enjoy academic discussion.
How to interpret ? A bird or a 'bird' ?...either way, you describe how love can be lost through neglect. A nice read, which made me ponder !...thanks...Maggie

I realize you often leave such wonderful reviews on my writing and I have yet to return the favour, something I much regret!
This is a beautiful poem, one I think many people are able to relate to. It's true, we really never acknowledge how important or special somebody in our life is until they are no longer there.
Great work, I look forward to reading (and reviewing) more of yours!

Nice metaphor. Once we have something important in our hands, we should treat it with great care so that it won't search for another hands to take care of it.
I hope the bird will come back soon.
Nicely penned.
