Smile

Smile embraced the life of a little boy who was given a warm cloth in biting cold

The little boy shivered in biting cold
Still he was serving food for young and old
The boy rushed from table to table
His speed matched only with fable

Suddenly a plate fell on the ground
All became alert by the breaking sound
The hotelier rushed to the boy and slapped on the face
He became furious and lost all grace

The guests of the hotel were busy with eating
They looked listless about his beating
A girl stood and asked the owner to  stop
He spared him and returned to his place of the shop

The poor boy started his work again in fear
The savior girl watched  him from near
The boy looked at her with grateful eyes
She saw that he wore a thin cloth to her surprise

She left the hotel and went to her class
Then she went to the market with her purse
She bought a sweater and returned soon
She beckoned the boy and offered the boon

The face of the boy became bright with smile
He bounced like a bird for a while
The girl felt very happy at the divine sight
She thought at least once she honored human right

I have been digging around tonight. Here, I came upon this. The title of course caught my attention.

I always enjoy your stories (even within poem such as this). You have a delightful way of telling them. Be they stories of hardship, life, whimsy or triumph.
This perfectly illustrates that it just takes one person to stop and care to make a difference in someone's life. No, he will not wear the sweater or the smile forever.. But that does not matter. For a time his heart was lighter.

Everyone should read this, because there's no one who'd stay cold at this touching poem. It brings the brightest spots in us, no matter how small they are. Everyone has that sensitive side, but we all need something like this to wake it up..
